Job Description:

**Miller Cooper is conducting this search on behalf of our client.**

Do you have the drive to do more than report numbers? Are you motivated to drive continuous improvement and success in an organization and lead an Accounting Department to extraordinary performance?

Our company is successful due to our people and our culture. We are a very well positioned small business that is becoming the dominant player in our space locally. We are looking to expand and become a dominant Midwest industrial products distributor and service company.

But first, we need to address the many challenges of being successful and re-think our Accounting practices - what got us here, will not get us there. Order to Cash speed, Accounting Processes, ERP Understanding, Collections Processes, and Inventory Processes are a few of the many Continuous Improvement projects that create opportunities for our new leader to make a major difference in our success. This department needs a player/coach mentality to manage our financials, look under the hood at existing processes, roll up their shirt sleeves and drive success - at our company, all of our leaders pitch in when needed.

Our leader will be in charge of everything from Order Entry, Inventory, AR/AP, ERP, Financial Statements, Balance Sheet, Payroll and most importantly managing three important teammates, driving a culture of Integrity, Teamwork and Continuous Improvement.

Short Term (1-3 months) Success includes:

  • Understanding our Order-to-Cash process

  • Understanding our Chart of Accounts / Journal Entries

  • Lowering our past due AR by 50%

  • Identifying Five (5) GAAP principals that should be addressed

  • Diving into our ERP functionality and identifying three (3) process changes

  • Leading weekly department meetings

  • Learning/understanding Month End Procedures

Medium Term (3-6 months) Success Includes:

  • Becoming a Cultural Leader driving engaged employees focused in Continuous Improvement and learning Accounting best practices

  • Implementing more efficient processes in OE, INV, Cash App, AR/AP, Payroll

  • Ownership of the data integrity and becoming our go-to resource for our ERP system

Long Term (12+ months) Success Includes:

  • Responsible for 30% operational cost savings in our office / accounting functions (utilization), in the form of efficiencies while we grow

  • 99%+ inventory accuracy

  • Multi-location Financial Statements / Balance Sheets due to company expansion

  • Forecasting / Budget planning

  • P&L Analysis

  • Day, Month, Quarter, and Year End Procedures documented and followed

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA plus
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Knowledge and application of US GAAP
  • Direct or similar experience with success factors/goals listed above
